Hummam Quader sent to jail
Dhaka: Police arrested Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of War Crimes condemned convict and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, from Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Saturday in a case filed against him seven years back.
After his arrest, Hummam was produced before a Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and it asked to send him to jail.
Dhanmondi Police Station officer-in-charge Noor-a-Azam said a police team arrested Humman from his residence at Road 10/A Dhanmondi at about 10:30am as a warrant for his arrest was pending in a criminal case filed against him.
The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on 25 July 2008 in connection with violence.
On 29 July, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) that had condemned his father Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to death for committing crimes against humanity, including rape and mass killing, during the Liberation War, 43 years ago.
