Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Khulna on Sunday on the occasion of commissioning and induction of new ships in Bangladesh Navy (BN).

It will be her first visit to Khulna after the Awami League government took office for the second consecutive term with a victory in the last general elections held on 5 January, 2014.

The Prime Minister will first go to Mongla from Dhaka to join the commissioning function of three BN Ships — KJ Ali, Sandwip and Hatia, said PM’s Press Wing officials.

She will also attend the induction ceremony of two landing craft tanks—LCT-103 and LCT-105 — there.

Later, Sheikh Hasina will visit Khulna Shipyard to inaugurate the keel-laying of two large patrol craft, and a container vessel, Nou Kalyan-1.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to return to Dhaka in the afternoon, said press wing officials.

Sheikh Hasina last visited Khulna on 24 January, 2013.
