Barisal: Police on Sunday foiled a demonstration programme of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the district town protesting the gas and power price hike.
When a procession of Barisal district unit (Dakhshin) of BNP reached Nazirpul area of the town at about 10:30am, police obstructed them, said Abul Kalam Shahin, general secretary of Barisal District Unit (Dakhshin).
Police also charged baton on them, which left five activists injured.
The law enforcers also arrested three BNP men from the spot.
