Salahuddin Quader’s son gets bail
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Sunday granted bail to detained Hummam Quader Chowdhury, son of war crime condemned convict and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, in an attempt to murder case filed seven years ago.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam granted the bail after the hearing of the case.
Earlier on Saturday, police arrested Hummam Quader Chowdhury from Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
Dhanmondi Police Station officer-in-charge Noor-a-Azam said a police team arrested Humman from his Dhanmondi residence at about 10:30am as a warrant for his arrest was pending in a criminal case filed against him.
The case was filed with Gulshan Police Station on 25 July, 2008 in connection with violence.
After his arrest, Humman was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and it asked to send him to jail.
On 29 July, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 1 that had condemned his father Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to death for committing crimes against humanity, including rape and mass killing, during the Liberation War, 43 years ago.
