Chittagong: A court in Chittagong on Sunday awarded life-term rigorous imprisonment to two persons in a verdict on charges of raping a teenage girl at Gomdandi area under Boalkhali upazila of the district.

The judge Mohammad Rezaul Karim of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 delivered the judgment convicting Mohammad Jashim and Didarul Alam both hailed from Gomdandi village under Boalkhali upazila of the district.

It is mentionable that the victim hailed from Mirsari upazila of the district and went Gomdandi village to visit the residence of her elder sister. Later, the victim filed a case with Boalkhali police station on in this connection. Police submitted charge-sheet on 3 September 1998 while the court framed charges on 17 January 1999.

The court on Sunday after examining five out 15 prosecution witnesses awarded the judgement convicting the fugitive Jashim, Didarul Alam . The accused Abul Bashar and Mofizur Rahman died in road accident in 2007.
