Domestic help describes torture on her
Dhaka: ‘I cooked semolina but the colour was not as usual. So they started beating me. They were shouting and asking me why that happened,’ said an 11-year old domestic help about her employer couple.
Happy was giving details of the tortures she experienced in the family of Cricketer Shahadat Hossain, who played 38 Tests and 51 ODIs for Bangladesh, and his wife Nitya Shahadat.
Happy complained that Shahadat and his wife were used to torture her.
Happy has been undergoing treatment in One Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) since Sunday.
While she came out from the OCC at about 1:30pm on Monday, She was in a wheel chair bearing marks of torture in different parts of her body.
Answering why Shahadat and his wife used to torture her, Happy said, ‘Sometimes they used to torture without any reason, sometimes for little mistakes.’
‘They used to beat with hands or anything they would get by their hands,’ added Happy.
Answering why she was beaten yesterday, happy said. ‘I cooked semolina but its colour was not just like the colour in other days. So, both of them started beating me.’
‘I fled the house when I could manage it’ said Happy.
Some residents of the Kalshi road area at Mirpur in Dhaka rescued the eleven-year-old child bearing marks of torture in different parts of her body.
Journalist Khandaker Mozammel Haque, a resident of Mirpur, filed a case on Sunday night against shahadat and his wife with the Mirpur Model police station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Trying to connect Shahadat Hossain over phone, his mobile was found switched off.
