Bus, CNG auto-rickshaw fares hiked
Dhaka: After the hike in fuel prices, Bangladesh government on Thursday increased bus and CNG-run auto-rickshaw fares.
Road, transport, and bridges Minister Obaidul Quader declared the revised fares of the public transports at Communications ministry in the afternoon.
Obaidul Quader said the new transport fare will be applicable for the public transports of Dhaka-Chittagong route and places near Dhaka. The hiked fare will be come into effect on 1 October, said the minister.
He said the fare of long-distance bus services will remain unchanged.
The minister said bus and minibus passengers now have to pay an additional 10 paisa per kilometre.
Bus fare per kilometre will be Tk 1.70 while minibus Tk 1.60. The minimum fare on buses is Tk 7 and minibuses Tk 5 remain unchanged.
The reset fare for buses and minibuses will be applicable from 1 October.
The CNG-run autorickshaw drivers have to pay Tk 900 daily to the owners as deposit money for operating the vehicle, added the minister.
However, the CNG-run auto-rickshaw passengers have to pay additional 14 paisa per kilometre from 1 November.
The passengers of auto-rickshaw have to pay Tk 40 for travelling the first two kilometres, and for every kilometre travelled after the first two kilometres, the passengers have to pay Tk 12.
Waiting charge per minute has been increased to Tk 2 from 1.40 paisa.
