Rana Plaza screening postponed again
A status quo on the release and screening of the Bangla movie Rana Plaza was imposed by a Supreme Court chamber judge on Thursday.
As per the order, the movie cannot be screened till September 14, which is also the day fixed for the review hearing at the appellate division bench.
The movie, featuring the miraculous rescue of garment worker Reshma Khatun from under the rubble 17 days after the collapse of the building Rana Plaza, was set to hit the cinemas on 4 September.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique imposed the status quo after hearing a review petition filed challenging the Appellate Division’s September 6 order that lifted a ban on the movie.
Bangladesh National Garments Workers Employees League President Sirajul Islam Rony submitted the review petition on Thursday complaining that the controversial scenes were not deleted from the movie as per the earlier HC directives.
The HC on August 24 imposed a ban on screening of the movie that cast Pori Moni and Saimon. The 2:17:16hours long movie was produced by Shamim Aktar and directed by Nazrul Islam Khan.
