Dhaka: Police arrested 41 Shibir leaders and activists allegedly while holding a clandestine meeting at a restaurant at Farmgate area in Dhaka on Friday afternoon.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police from Tejgaon Police Station conducted a raid on the rooftop of ‘Hotel Givency’ at Babul Tower near Farmgate bus stand at about 5:30pm and arrested the Shibir leaders and activists.

Contacted, Deputy Commissioner (Tejgaon Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Biplab Kumar Sarker confirmed the arrest, saying the arrested Shibir men were holding a secret meeting.

They were taken to Tejgaon police station, he said.
