2 schoolgirls ‘raped’ in 3 days, 1 held
Two schoolgirls have been allegedly raped in Habiganj’s Baniachong during the last three days, with one rape accused being already captured by the police who are yet to trace the second one.
The accused, held on Saturday in a case filed by the family of a fifth-grader victim girl in Baniachong’s Kagapasha Union, was reportedly a leader of local Juba League.
It was alleged that the suspect had broken into the house of the victim, who was alone during that time of Friday midnight, and raped her, said Baniachong police officer-in-charge Nirmalendu Chakrabarty.
A similar incident took place at Baniachong’s Khagaura Union where a fourth grader girl was allegedly raped by a 22-year-old man from the same area on Wednesday night when the victim had come outside to use the toilet.
The father of this second rape victim filed a case with the Baniachong police after the accused’s father had failed to settle the issue with the local arbitrations body, OC Nirmalendu said adding that the accused was on run.
