President urged to impeach CJ
Dhaka: Appellate Division judge AHM Shamsuddin on Sunday evening submitted an application to the President Abdul Hamid asking him to impeach Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha immediately, confirmed a source very close to the president’s personal assistant.
AHM Shamsuddin, in his letter, expressed confusion whether the CJ lacked the ability to conduct proceedings as he was biased and hostile to his colleagues.
These behaviours are impeachable and so he should be removed from his post, claimed Shamsuddin.
The appellate division judge in his application complained against the CJ that he would go to retirement on 17 September 2015 and so he requested the CJ for some facilities that the judges often enjoy on their pension period. But the CJ turned down the request and asked him to give back all documents of ongoing trials to the offices concerned.
Shamsuddin termed the behaviour of SK Sinha as hostile and discriminatory.
