Police to quiz 7 suspected Hizb ut-Tahrir men
Dhaka: The seven people arrested for their suspected link to banned Islamic outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir Bangladesh was sent to police custody on Sunday to be quizzed for two days each.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ataul Haque passed the order after police produced them before the court seeking permission to question them for 10 days in two cases.
The accused are Ekramul Khayer Apu, Abdul Qaium, Nazmul Hasan Nipon, Ibrahim Sheikh, Rashedul, Ariful Islam and ASM Tareq.
Tipped off, a cyber crime team of Detectives Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive in Khilkhet area of the capital on Saturday midnight and arrested the seven people, said Muntashirul Islam, deputy commissioner (Media) of the DB.
Later, a case was filed against Ekramul Khayer, Abdul Qaium, Nazmul Hasan, Ibrahim, Rashedul with Khilkhet Police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act while another case was filed against Ariful and ASM Tareq with the same police station under the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Act.
