Khaleda Zia meets BNP senior leaders tonight
Dhaka: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will sit with senior leaders of her party on Sunday night (tonight) to discuss the country’s latest political situation and party’s next course of action after Eid-ul-Azha.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00pm at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, her media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan told UNB.
A senior BNP leader, wishing anonymity, said the meeting is very significant as it is being held before the BNP chief’s visit to London this week to receive medical treatment and meet her eldest son and party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Tarique has been staying in the UK for the last seven years.
Another leader said Khaleda Zia is going to hold the meeting with the leaders of her party to take their opinions on various issues that she will discuss with her son during her London tour.
He said their chairperson is also likely to discuss the country’s overall situation, party activities and its next course of action.
The BNP leader said Khaleda Zia will also give the leaders necessary directions to carry out the party organisational activities during her stay in London.
BNP standing committee members, vice chairmen and joint secretaries general are scheduled to join the meeting.
Before the meeting, newly appointed Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh HM Al-Mutairi will pay a call on with Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office at about 8:00pm.
