Dhaka: The Appellate Division (AD) of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday upheld the High Court (HC) order granting bail to Destiny 2000 president and former army chief Lt Gen (retd) Harun-Ar-Rashid in two money laundering cases.

A four-member AD bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order upon separate petitions of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) challenging the HC bail order.

The three other members of bench are: Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana, Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Justice Hasan Foez Siddique.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the ACC while Advocate Abdul Matin Khasru for Harun.

Earlier on 18 October 2012, the HC granted bail to Harun in two cases on conditions that he will not leave the country and maintain no relation with Destiny.

The ACC filed an appeal with the AD challenging the bail order.

On 31 July 2012, the ACC filed two cases with Kalabagan Police Station accusing 22 top officials of Destiny Group including Harun on charge of laundering Tk 3285.26 crore.
