Dhaka: Sending letter to the President for impeaching the chief justice is indecent, said Supreme Court Bar Association president Khandker Mahbub Hossain on Monday.

Responding to a question from journalists in his office, Mahbub Hossain said, ‘Justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury might have sent the letter to Parliament as it is now the House’s authority to remove the chief justice.’

The Bar Association is not according reception to AHM Shamsuddin Chowdhury, confirms Mahbub Hossain. He said Justice Shamsuddin had not delivered complete verdict in many cases and had not gave judgments in several others.

Shamsuddin Chowdhury on Sunday sent an application to President Abdul Hamid urging him to impeach Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha for violating constitution and indecent activities. He forwarded copies of the letter to prime minister, speaker, chief justice, law minister and judges of appeal and high court divisions.

Joynal Abedin, press secretary to the president, however said that they did not receive any letter in this regard.
