Faridpur: A court in Faridpur on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2011.

The convict is Shahid Thakur, a resident of Shyamsundarpur village in Sadar upazila.

According to the prosecution, Shahid strangulated his wife Farida Begum, 31, to death following a family feud in 2011.

Later, the victim’s family filed a case against four people including Shahid with Kotwali Police Station.

District and Sessions Judge Jahidul Islam handed down the verdict acquitting three others as the allegations brought against them could not be proved.
