President, PM pay tribute to Mohsin Ali

Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and cabinet members on Wednesday pay tribute to Social Welfare minister and freedom fighter Syed Mohsin Ali, held at the South Plaza of National Parliament Building.

Later, the second namaz-e-janaza of Mohsin Ali held at about 10:15am.

The minister’s body will be taken to his Darjimahal residence in Moulvibazar.

His third namaz-e-janaza will be held at Moulvibazar Government school field at about 4:00pm.

Mohsin Ali will be buried with state honour at Hazrat Shah Mostofa’s shrine near his parents’ grave.

Earlier, at about 9:00am, body of the Social Welfare minister was taken to his Mintoo road residence from Central Shaheed Minar.

His body was kept at the Central Shaheed Minar from 8:00am to 9:00am where people from all walks of life paid their last respects to him.

Vice chancellor of University of Dhaka Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Chief Justice SK Sinha, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote president Golam Kuddus and leaders of Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, and Shechwashebak League also paid their tribute to Mohsin Ali.

Social Welfare Minister Mohsin Ali died at Singapore General Hospital at local time 9:59am on 14 September.

The first namaz-e-janaza of Mohsin Ali was held at a Singapore mosque.

The body of Syed Mohsin Ali arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 10:30pm on Tuesday.

Syed Mohsin Ali was elected a lawmaker of Moulvibazar-3 constituency in the 10th National Parliament Election 2014.

He sworn-in as minister on 12 January 2014 and appointed as social welfare minister.
