Dhaka: The bodies of four Bangladeshis died in Oman accident have been at Muscat Police Hospital morgue and those will either be repatriated or buried locally, said Foreign Ministry in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The government will consult with their family members and authorities concerned on completion of the due local procedures.

On 13 September, four Bangladeshi expatriate workers died and six others were injured in an accident at a construction site at Yitti in Muscat, the capital of Oman.

The Foreign Ministry through the Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat has confirmed the identities of three deceased. They are Mohammad Shahjahan, resident of village Char Pargasa, Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, Shibash Das, of village Pakbalighar, Muradnagar, Comilla, and M Sumon, resident of Purba Aozbaria, Sadar, Noakahli.

All of them were irregular workers
‘absconded’ from their employers.

The accident took place when the victims were travelling in a JCB machine (digger) buckets and it toppled over them.

A representative of the Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat visited the spot and the hospital concerned immediately after the accident and talked to the hospital authorities to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

The embassy is also in close contact with the police authorities concerned.
