BSF firing kills Bangladeshi, hurts 4
Joypurhat: A Bangladeshi was killed and four others sustained bullet injuries as members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on them at bordering Paschim Ram Krishnapur village in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat on Friday.
The deceased is Sayem, a resident of the village.
Dholahar union parishad chairman Tozammel Haque said, the BSF members chased two children while they were catching fish in a pond near 276/7 border pillar at the village.
As the villagers protested the incident, the BSF members entered the village at about 12:30pm and opened fire on them that left five people, including Sayem, injured.
The injured were rushed to Joypurhat Adhunik Hospital from where Sayem was shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. He, however, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 4:30pm.
Lt Colonel Abdur Razzak Tarafdar, commanding officer of BGB battalion-3, confirmed the incident.
