Narayanganj: Road accidents rates have reduced and people are going homes more safely than any other time in the past, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday.

The minister, on his way to Noakhali from Dhaka, stopped at Kanchpur in Narayanganj and inspected the construction works of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. 

He said it was not possible to completely make roads jam-free as rain had damaged most of the highways of the country. A good portion of roads, however, had been repaired and hopefully traffic congestion would be tolerable, he added.

The minister asked drivers to be careful about lives. 

He also claimed that the administration had successfully reduced the number of cattle markets on roads.
