AD releases full verdict in Kamaruzzaman appeal

The Appellate Division on Wednesday released the full text of its judgement upholding death sentence given to Jamaat leader Mohammad Kamaruzzaman by International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2.
The four-member panel of AD, headed by Justice (current Chief Justice) Surendra Kumar Sinha, signed on the text in the morning and the department concerned of the Supreme Court then released the 577-page verdict.
According to the jurists, Kamaruzzaman, now the senior assistant secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami will get 15-day time to file a review petition against the judgement.
The ICT-2 on 9 May 2013 sentenced him to death and the AD on 3 November 2014, upheld maximum punishment for the Al-Badr leader.
