1 held with 3kg gold at Dhaka Airport
Dhaka: Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport held a man carrying 32 gold bars on Sunday morning.
The officials said the detainee, Faisal Hossain, is a resident of Chittagong.
Airport customs division joint commissioner Sohel Rahman said Faisal landed at the airport from an United Arab Emirates flight at about 8:00am.
Customs officials challenged him while he was crossing the green channel of the airport at about 9:00am.
Later, the officials recovered 32 gold bars weighing 3.7kilograms kept in Faisal’s shoe sole covered by surgical tape, and arrested him.
The market value of the seized gold is about Tk 1 crore 34 lakh.
