Patuakhali: A man was shot dead by robbers at Poschim Awliya village in Sadar upazila in the early hours of Monday.

The deceased is Shahajan Hawlader, a resident of the village.

The Sadar police said a gang of around 12 robbers stormed in the house of local Mannan Master at the village by breaking the door at about 1:30am.

Hearing screams of the house inmates, the neighbours including Shahjahan went to the house to help them.

Sensing danger, the robber gang opened fire at the villagers.

Shahjahan received bullet injuries and died on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Patuakhali General Hospital.
