Fakhrul returns home tonight
Dhaka: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir returns home tonight (Monday night) after taking medical treatment abroad for nearly two months.
‘Mirza Fakhrul is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by a Singapore Airlines at about 10:30pm, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
He said Fakhrul went to Singapore on Sunday from the USA to consult his doctors at National University Hospital, Singapore before returning home, Sayrul added.
A party senior leader, wishing anonymity, said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in London, asked Fakhrul to return home to look after the party as she is now outside the country.
Getting released from jail six months after his arrest, the BNP acting secretary general went to Singapore for treatment at the National University Hospital there. He has blockage in his internal carotid artery.
On 10 August, he went to the USA from Singapore for a surgery to have the blockage removed at Cornell Hospital.
