Dhaka: The domestic help of Bangladesh National Cricket Team player Shahadat Hossain testified before a court in Dhaka on Monday over the torture on her.

Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Rani recorded the statement of Mahfuza Akhter Happy, 11, from 3:00pm to 4:00pm, said court sources.

Later, she was sent to the Victim Support Centre.

On 7 September, a case was filed against Shahadat Hossain and his wife Nitto Shahadat over torturing their housemaid.

A journalist named Mozammel Hossain filed the case with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000.

Earlier, locals found Happy on a road in Journalist Residential Area in Pallabi of the city on 6 September.

Informed, a team of Pallabi Police Station rescued the injured girl from the area at about 9:30pm.

The victim claimed that Shahadat Hossain and his wife tortured her.
