With the death of four more people from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Friday, the death toll from the virus in Bangladesh stood at 131.

Besides, 503 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 4,689.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at the daily health bulletin broadcast from Mohakhali.

"In the last 24 hours, 3,686 samples were tested and 503 additional patients have been detected. The total number of infections has risen to 4,689. We’re relieved to say that the number of growing death toll declined to just four today. The total death toll is 131," Dr Nasima said. 

"All the deceased were male and aged between 51 and 60,” she said adding four more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours.

"We can only hope to see the growing number of patients come down with your (public) help. Please stay indoors and follow health guidelines," Dr Nasima pleaded.

She urged everyone to comply with the regulations regarding Tarabi prayers, too.
