3 Jamaat men acquitted of contempt charges

Dhaka: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) 1 acquitted three Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and their lawyers from charges of contempt of court.
A three-member ICT bench headed by Justice Enayetur Rahim cleared them from the case on Monday morning. The tribunal also ordered Islami Chhatra Shibir president Abdul Jabbar and secretary Atiqur Rahman to submit their response against a show cause.
The other members of bench are Justice Anwarul Haque and Justice Jahangir Hossain.
Earlier, on 30 December 2014, prosecution brought charges against six persons including Jamaat acting amir and Tajul Islam for commenting on the verdict against Jamaat assistant secretary general ATM Azharul Islam.
On 1 January 2015, the court issued show cause notice against the accused. The court cleared four persons as their response to the notice were satisfactory, but ordered two others to submit their response by 24 May.
