Dhaka: National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline by two months to 30 November for filing income tax returns for 2015-16 tax year.

The time has been extended as the government offices, private businesses and other organisations remained closed for days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the NBR said.

Besides, there was also demand from different chambers, trade-bodies and organisations for allowing more time for submitting income tax returns.

The deadline for income tax return submission was due on 30 September.

According to NBR, around 12 lakh people submitted income tax return last year.
