Dhaka: The National Industrial Policy-2015 will focus on facilitating and expediting investment from overseas, with putting due emphasis  on accelerating local investment, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said.

“We are continuously updating our fiscal and industrial policies and providing  certain fiscal and tax incentives to the private sector. The upcoming industrial policy will also put special emphasis on both local and foreign investors to help them run their businesses smoothly,” he said.

The minister was addressing the opening ceremony of the “SAFA International Conference 2015” at a city hotel last night (Sunday night). The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) is organising the two-day conference titled “Financial Reforms to Boost Industrial and Service Sectors.”

State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Abdul Matlub Ahmed also addressed the function.

Amu said the government had been providing necessary supports to the industrial and service sectors so the two sectors could grow together in a faster way for achieving a more balanced and sustainable economic growth.

Referring to the monetary policy of Bangladesh Bank, the minister said the central bank had also been very active in providing effective policy support to expedite economic growth towards attaining middle income status by 2021.

Among others, President of ICMAB Abu Sayed M Shaykhul Islam, seminar and conference committee chairman of ICMAB Mohammed Salim and Leaders of SAFA and ICMAB Jamal Uddin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
