Dhaka: The deadline for the submission of income tax return for the 2015-16 fiscal years expires on Monday (30 Nov).

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has said the deadline will not be extended again as it had already been done for two months at a time.

Originally, September 30 was the deadline for the income tax submission, but the NBR extended the deadline taking Hajj, Eid-ul-Azha and Durga Puja into account.

The Federation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the country’s apex trade body, had also requested the government to extend the deadline like the previous years.

‘We’ve extended the deadline for two months at a time and there’s no chance for further extension,’ a senior NBR official told UNB.

He also said the NBR has organised two tax fairs for the easy submission of income tax return through the tax fairs.

One was held on 16 September for one week in seven divisional and district headquarters and 86 upazilas across the country. The NBR held the tax fair in the 86 upazilas for the first time. The fair took place in 29 upazilas for two days and 57 upazilas for one day in between September 16 and September 22.

This year, the NBR has collected some Tk 2035.32 crore as revenue from the weeklong fair, which was Tk 1675 crore last year.
