Dhaka: Multi-dimensional education system is disallowing the graduates passing out every year to find apt jobs for them. Hence a lion share of the graduates remains unemployed. In every year almost half of the graduates came to the job market but they are not getting appropriate jobs according to merit or staying unemployed.

A recent survey has come up with a finding that the number of students studying business is surpassing the number of students studying science. Still business grads are not finding their fitting jobs. Today we will be focusing on how business grads can be benefitted from tech based organizations. Tasnuva Ayesha Haque studied business administration and has been working in a tech based organization, Tech One Global, as its marketing manager (Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan)  since long. Saadman Khan Nabil talks to her about the challenges in job market and prospects of higher education in Bangladesh. Here goes the interview of her with NTV:

There is a momentous dissimilarity between the education of a tech grad and a business grad. What makes you think that a business grad can defend his/her position in a tech based farm?

Organizations need different mechanisms and drivers to operate in the market irrespective of their industry. Having said that, technology based company opted me to work for them as to me it is one of the paramount place to learn and grow. The role Tech One offered me seemed like the best possible option that would help me in my career progression. I never thought that much deep about coping up or I haven’t faced any noteworthy intricacies working here till now.

What are the scopes for a business graduate in a tech farm? Is it doing communication and making presentations only?

If we look at the global perspective, nowadays business grads are shifting towards tech based farms rather than only looking for banks or any other industries. It’s due to the career headway and the flexibility they are offering. It’s not a 9-5 desk job. It offers a challenge and cheers to chase and excel. The scope is immense. Communication, pitching ideas and defending them are one of many integral parts where business grads can test their skills into. Besides market intelligence, market research, pre sales activities, rapport buildup are also the fields where business grads can consider doing better than the rest.

While technical people work hard in preparing the product for clients, you organize yourself in presenting it to clients. You can add your creativity, your thoughts and revamp your own presentation to make it better. There is no pressure no constraint from the top brass.

Have you faced any intricacies sustaining or adjusting yourself in an organization which was alien to you once?

Personally speaking I haven’t faced any obscurity while working here. Initially after joining somewhere, I observe people and the surroundings and then do the needful to fit in to the organization. So for the students/grads who want to penetrate into this industry need to be focused without worrying too much about intricacies. Tech employers are not aliens. They treat you with equal importance and value your skills and expertise.

When you go for an interview in a tech based farm, what might be your points to negotiate when it comes to your salary or other facilities and career panorama?

Well, your performance in an interview solely depends on your skills, knowledge and your technical knowhow on the organization or the industry. So if you are capable and have the talents to serve the organizational purpose then you should present yourself in front of any interview board.

To me, salary should not be the most obvious particular while negotiating with your employer or interviewer. Rather you should portray your abilities assertively so that the interviewer does not get any negative impression. Confidence is the key.

Any tips for the new comers especially business grads in this industry?

There are always positive things waiting for the students who want to establish their career in tech based farm. It is dynamic; it is robust and offers adequate training and learning space for an incumbent. Tech farms are like an untapped market for business graduates especially in Bangladesh. Hence all should study the industry and keep updated on tech information which is pretty obvious these days to get an added advantage to break in.

An engine is comprised of several parts, nuts and bolts to perform. Therefore each and every area like technical department, marketing, finance, accounts and administration are important. If you have the skills then there is nothing that can hinder your progress.
