TV sales up following World T20

Dhaka: The sales of televisions, including CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) and LED (Light Emitting Diode), have gone up across the country on the occasion of the ongoing ICC World T20, says a UNB report.

Bangladesh earned a spot in the Super-10 stage of the World T20 where they will face India, Australia and New Zealand after losing to Pakistan on Wednesday.

Traders of the capital’s largest market of electronics products ‘Stadium Market said the demands for televisions have gone up across the country during the last couple of months on the occasions of Asia Cup and the ongoing T20 World Cup.

The Walton officials informed that they registered about 62 per cent growth in the sales of their LED TVs during the period of January and February of the current year compared to the sales of the last two months (November and December) of 2015.

During a visit to the Stadium Market, it was found that Walton is now selling out a total of 71 models of CRT and LED televisions in the country’s electronics market. The local brand is offering 19-inch and 24-inch world-class LED TVs at Tk 11,900 and Tk 14,900 respectively. Besides, the customers are now buying Walton brand 28 and 32-inch LED televisions at a cost of Tk 19,900 and Tk 22,900 respectively.
