Dhaka: Twelve industrial units on Wednesday received the first-ever ‘President’s Award for Industrial Development 2014’ for their significant contributions to the national economy.

President Abdul Hamid handed over the awards to the recipients in five categories at a function held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city.

The five categories are large industry, medium industry, small industry, cottage industry and Hi-tech industry.

Three recipients under the large industry category are BSRM Steel Limited, Abdul Monem Limited and BRB Cable Industries Limited.

Basumati Distribution Limited, National AgriCare Import and Export Limited and Jalalabad Frozen Foods Limited have received the award under medium industry category.

Three industrial units under the small industry category are Masers Helal and Brothers, Adhesion Products Private Limited and Prince Chemical Company Limited.

Meanwhile, Western Marine Shipyard Limited and Service Engine Limited were awarded under Hi-tech Industry category while Janani Weaving Factory honoured with the President’s Award as only industry in cottage industry category.
