Dhaka: HSBC Bank Bangladesh has tied up with WaterAid Bangladesh to ensure safe drinking water in remote areas of Bandarban.

To this end, both the organizations today struck a deal. HSBC CEO Francois De Maricourt and WaterAid Bangladesh Country Representative Dr Khairul Islam signed the agreement at HSBC Management office in city's Gulshan, said a press release.

Under this agreement, WaterAid will be constructing a new Gravity Flow System (GFS) and renovate another GFS at Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban benefitting hundreds of marginalized ethnic people suffering from acute water crisis.

High officials from both the organisations were present on the occasion.

HSBC Water Programme has already given a grant of US$ 31 Lakh to WaterAid to ensure safe water and sanitation for the people of north-eastern and north-western Bangladesh.

WaterAid Bangladesh is implementing this project. Another grant from HSBC Bangladesh worth US$ 8.3 Lakh is under process.
