Sylhet: Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Monday said the people with Tk 16,000 monthly minimum income must pay income tax. This will be implemented within a year or two.  

This rule will equally be applicable for the people in private sector, said the finance minister while inspecting the Shahi Eidgah in Sylhet.

He said the investigation report on $81 million heist at Bangladesh Bank will be disclosed by 24 September.

Earlier on 7 September at Baily Road Officers’ Club Muhith said compulsory tax would be imposed on every earner. He asked the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to take necessary measures to implement the new system within two years.
