Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said that the country needs no more new roads.
‘We have decided that there is no need of any new roads in the country,’ the minister said, ‘What now is needed is to take care of the existing ones.’
AMA Muhith made the remark at ‘Kemon Budget Chai’ (what kind of budget we want), a views exchange programme jointly organised by NTV and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) at the capital’s Hotel Sonargaon on Friday.
NTV aired the programme live. This is the eighth consecutive year NTV has been organising this event.
The minister also said that next budget will only focus on renovating existing roads.
‘I request you all not to create a need to construct new road,’ Muhith added.
Attended by high-profile personalities of the country and respected members of the public, the programme discussed various budget related issues.
Participating people were allowed to ask questions to the minister and talk about what kind of budget they expect.
