US-Bangla Airlines launches Dhaka-Rajshahi flights Saturday

Rajshahi: US-Bangla Airlines Ltd, a new private airlines company, launched domestic flights operations on Rajshahi-Dhaka-Rajshahi domestic routes today (Saturday) formally.
The first flight took off from Shahmukhdum Airport in Rajshahi at about 4.30pm.
Starting from Dhaka, the airline will initially operate three weekly flights -- Saturday, Monday and Wednesday -- on the routes.
Earlier, national flag-carrier Bangladesh Biman re-launched three weekly flights -- Friday, Sunday and Tuesday -- on the routes on 7 April after a lapse of long eight years.
The new airlines launched business to tap growing air traffic on local routes as the number of passengers is growing steadily over the past years and tourism is increasingly becoming popular among middle income people.
Badal Kumar Roy, Station-in-Charge of US-Bangla Airline, here told BSS that the airlines arranged special transports equipped with Wi-Fi for passengers to and from Rajshahi.
The large, fast, quiet and fuel-efficient turboprops would provide an ideal balance of passenger comfort with a reduced environmental footprint, he further said.
The fares for a one-way trip from Rajshahi to Dhaka will be Tk 3,200 including taxes. But, a promotional package from Taka 2,500 is going on at present, he added.
