SUST teacher dismissed over sexual harassment charge

Sylhet: Authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on Saturday dismissed a university teacher for sexually harassing a female student.
The accused teacher is Plabon Chandra Saha of Economics department, reports the UNB.
The girl who was harassed by Plabon Chandra Saha has been suspended for two years from the university.
The decision was taken at the 211th syndicate meeting of the university, said an official, wising anonymity.
Besides, the meeting also decided not to give promotion to Associate Professor Mohammad Masud Sarker of Political Studies department in the next four years for signature forgery.
At the syndicate meeting on October 15, the SUST authorities suspended Plaban, assistant proctor and assistant professor of the department, from the administrative duties on the charge.
Wishing anonymity, several syndicate members confirmed the development.
