DUCSU constitution amendment: Recommendations to be received until Jan 14

Dhaka: Dhaka University (DU) authorities on Thursday extended the deadline until January 14 for student organisations to submit recommendations for the amendment to the existing Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) constitution.
Prof Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, chief of the five-member committee which was formed to take suggestions from the student organisationss, said this after a meeting with the student bodies at the conference room of the university’s Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bahabn, reports the UNB.
‘Another meeting will be held on Monday next and the student bodies will submit the rest of their recommendations over the amendment to the Ducsu constitution then,’ he said.
The five-member committee, led by Dr Mizanur Rahman, was formed on Friday to take suggestions from the student organisations. The DUCSU constitution was last amended in 1998.
Former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission and Provost of Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall Dr Mizanur Rahman conducted the meeting while other members are Masterda Surja Sen Hall Provost Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Kabi Jasimuddin Hall Provost Dr Md Rahmat Ullah, Ruqayyah Hall Provost Prof Dr Zeenat Huda and Shamsunnahar Hall Provost Dr Supriya Saha.
DU unit President of Bangladesh Chhatra League Sanjit Chandra Das and General Secretary Md Saddam Hussain, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal DU unit President Mehedi Talukder and General Secretary Abul Bashar Siddique, Bangladesh Chhatra Union DU unit President Foez Ullah and Bangladesh Chhatra Federation DU unit President Umme Habiba Benazir were, among others, present.
