IU reopens on Saturday

Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia will reopen on Saturday around four months after it was closed following campus violence.
On the eve of resuming the university the authorities opened the halls of the university on Friday.
The university proctor professor Lokman Hakim said meeting, processions, rallies and all kinds of gatherings will be banned in the campus till further instruction.
The proctor said according to the decision taken at 228th emergency meeting of the university syndicate, all the residential halls of the campus reopened at about 9:30am on Friday.
Additional police have been deployed in the campus area to avoid untoward situation, said Lokman Hakim.
On 30 November 2014, the university authorities shut academic activities for indefinite period as agitated students vandalised buses and set fire to the vehicles following a death of a student.
The campus was opened on 8 January but again shut after a day.
