35 SUST teachers resign

Sylhet: A total of 35 teachers of Shahjalal University of Science And Technology (SUST) in Sylhet have quit from around 37 administrative posts demanding the removal of the university’s vice‑chancellor.
The teachers submitted their resignations together at the registrar building at about 11:00am on Monday. None of the registrar and the vice‑chancellor was present at that time.
The vice-chancellor Mohammad Aminul Haque Bhuiyan called the teachers to resume their work and said their resignations will not be received.
The university acting proctor Emdadul Haque said 19 teachers of Physics and Geography and Environment Departments went to talk with the VC for solving the space problems of the academic building.
Later, the teachers demanded the removal of the VC by 5:00pm claiming that VC misbehaved with the teachers at the meeting.
They decided to submit their resignation letter as the VC did not step down from his post.
