82 BD students selected for Erasmus scholarship

Dhaka: Ambassador Pierre Mayaudon, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, on Thursday met 82 Bangladeshi students who will benefit from an EU scholarship of the 'Erasmus+' programme.
The ambassador hosted the event with representatives from EU Member States.
He congratulated the selected candidates and said, ‘I wish you all the best in your new European adventure and I hope all your knowledge and experience will help ensure the growth and development of Bangladesh.’
The 'Erasmus+' programme aims to enhance the quality of higher education by promoting dialogue as well as understanding between people and cultures through mobility and academic cooperation.
This year, 47 Bangladeshis were selected to study in Europe in view of completing Masters or Doctorates.
Another 35 Bangladeshi nationals were selected through strategic partnerships to pursue courses of different duration at academic institutions in EU Member States working in partnership with Bangladeshi universities.
A European Higher Education Fair in Bangladesh will be organized in 2016 to reinforce the partnership between Bangladeshi and European universities.
