DU Bijoy Ekattar Hall for students of all religions

Dhaka: Bijoy Ekkatar Hall of Dhaka University is going to be opened for students of all religions from 2015-2016 academic session.
The DU syndicate has decided to allocate seat to all students irrespective of their religion, faith and creeds, said Professor Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan, provost of the hall, while speaking at a press briefing on Sunday.
He said the decision was taken at the Syndicate meeting on 13 July following his request.
The provost said students belonging to any religion can apply for seat at the dormitory. Seats will be allocated on the basis of merit.
At present, around 1300 students are residing in the hall and all of them are Muslims.
Jagannath Hall is the lone dormitory where students of others religions reside.
However, there is no such rule in case of female dormitories.
