Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Sunday said the government has undertaken initiatives to admit 20% children of the country in technical and vocational educational institution by 2020.

"The government will also enhance facilities of technical and vocation education," he said while addressing as the chief guest at a seminar on "Role of Industries in Increasing Standard of Technical Education" organized by Sylhet Polytechnic Institute at a city hotel in Sylhet.

The minister said a lot of student do not get job after completing their master degree. "If they received technical education, they will not be jobless," he added.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Professor Aminul Haque and Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Sajjadul Hasan spoke on the occasion as special guest.
