Dhaka: The Awami League-led 14-party alliance will participate in the next general election with ‘Boat’ symbol.

A delegation of the alliance, led by AL Organisaing Secretary Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, informed the Election Commission of the decision on Sunday, report the UNB.

The 14-party delegation submitted a letter to the EC secretary mentioning that they will join the election in alliance, said Nowfel, also a member of AL Election Conducting Subcommittee, while talking to reporters emerging from the EC.

He, however, did not disclose the names of the parties which will use the ruling party’s electoral symbol in the polls.

The AL leader parried the question when asked whether HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party is in the alliance. ‘It’s a confidential matter and we won’t make any comment,’ he said.
