Australian entrepreneurs keen to work in Bangladesh: Australia envoy
Dhaka: Australian entrepreneurs expressed their interest to invest and work in Image result for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), LNG terminal and construction of other infrastructure in Bangladesh.
"Australian entrepreneurs expressed their interest to invest in Bangladesh and work in the energy sector," Australian High Commissioner in Dhaka Julia Niblett said as he met State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Tuesday at his secretariat office.
She sought cooperation of the government as her country's renowned LNG producer and seller "Woodside" would visit in November to Dhaka.
Nasrul Hamid told the envoy that both the countries would get benefit by sharing experiences in the energy sector.
"Bangladesh needs power, we want to utilize Australia's modern technology, their experiences and specialists along with other developed countries to this end," he said.
The state minister said Bangladesh would require 3,500 mmcfd LNG, adding, "We are looking for new markets for LNG importing."
He informed the Australian high commissioner that initiative is underway to import coal from various countries including Australia. Nasrul sought Australian cooperation for building capacity of human resources in Bangladesh.
Besides, they also discussed different issues of mutual interests. Additional secretary of energy and mineral resources division Zakir Hossain was present on the occasion.
