‘Shat Gombuj Mosque’ blessing for world: Bernicat
Bagerhat: Describing the Shat Gombuj Mosque (sixty-dome mosque) as a blessing for the world, US Ambassador to Dhaka Marcia Bernicat on Thursday said all should visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
She made the remark while talking to local journalists after visiting the Shat Gombuj Mosque and Museum in the morning.
The US envoy said the historic mosque, one of the country’s spectacular structures, is the proof that there is cultural diversity in Bangladesh.
Earlier, Bernicat went round the mosque and captured photos of different archaeological items. She also visited Ghora Dighi by the mosque.
USAID mission director in Bangladesh Janina Jaruzelski, deputy commissioner Tapan Kumar Biswas and police super of the district Pankaj Chandra Roy were, among others, present on the occasion.
