Dhaka: Brazilian Ambassador to Bangladesh Wanja Campos da Nóbrega has taken up responsibility as the new Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Bangladesh.

It is the first time in Bangladesh that a woman is the Dean of Diplomatic Corps.

Ambassador Wanja Campos da Nóbrega replaced Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Iwan Wiranata Atmadja, according to Brazilian Embassy in Dhaka.

Dhaka now has a record number of women Ambassadors and high commissioners representing twelve countries.

They are Brazilian Ambassador Wanja Campos da Nobrega, France Ambassador Sophie Aubert, US Ambassador Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat, Sri Lankan High Commissioner Yasoja Gunasekera, Ambassador of the Netherlands Leoni Margaretha Cuelenaere, British High Commissioner Alison Blake, Malaysian High Commissioner Nur Ashikin Mohd Taib, Thai Ambassador Panpimon Suwannapone, Australian High Commissioner Julia Niblett, High Commissioner of Brunei Masurai Masri, Norwegian Ambassador Sidsel Bleken and Ambassador of Maldives Shaan Shakir.
