UK High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alison Blake

Dhaka: The United Kingdoms (UK) wants to see an inclusive and participatory election process in Bangladesh, said it High Commissioner to Bangladesh Alison Blake on Tuesday.

"I'm just here to express our support to the people to work in some part and deliver inclusive participatory election process in Bangladesh," the British envoy told reporters after an hour-long meeting with Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda at the latter's office.

She said they had a very good discussion over the roadmap prepared by the Election Commission for holding the 11th national election.

EC Secretary Muhammad Abdullah who was present at the meeting also told the journalists that Alison Blake emphasized inclusive and participatory election.

"EC's goal is also the same," he said adding, "We want to make the next parliamentary polls participatory and credible by ensuring a level-playing field.

Alison Blake led a four-member delegation to the meeting held from 11:50am to 12:50pm.

Earlier on May 31, US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat met the CEC and said the US does not want any lopsided election in Bangladesh.
