Bangladesh has 4,143 HIV-infected people currently

Dhaka: The number of people infected with HIV in the country stood at 4,143 as of November, 2015, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim informed Parliament on Thursday.
The minister came up with the statistics responding to a scripted question from Awami League MP Md Israfil Alam (Noagaon-6).
He said the government has taken various steps for ensuring treatment for the HIV-infected people through STD Control Programme.
Nasim said the government has been providing medical treatment to 20,802 vulnerable people, including sex workers, under the programme.
